Renault Scenic Dash/Dashboard Instrument Cluster (Own Unit Rebuild)

We are currently rebuilding customers own units with a 3 year warranty, this is a very common failure for the Renault Scenic instrument cluster - the problem normally starts out as being intermittent, normally the display will fail when the car has been driven for a while and then will reappear after a few minutes. But the fault always becomes more permanent with time - the mileage in some cases will start to jump by as much as 100000 miles, we will always correct the mileage problem during the rebuild if this has happened. These instrument clusters cost a fortune from the main dealer and they only give a 6 month warranty - we give a 3 year warranty for the fraction of the price so you really are getting a very good bargain here.

Common Design Flaw:
These Scenic instrument clusters where all produced with a common design flaw, causing the dash to fail so early in its life.
During the rebuild of your unit we re-design this flaw and replace all low rated components with much higher rated than standard components, this allows the VFD (Vacuum Flourescent Display) to draw less current and produce far less thermal radiation - thus greatly extending the overall life of your dash.

Common Failure symptoms:
Display flickers and/or dash goes off all together
Mileage starts to clock upwards
Volume control failure
Time and trip resetting radomly

Warranty:
3 year unlimited mileage

Quality:
We take a great deal of pride in our work and will always handle your instrument cluster as if it where our own, we understand how important it is for your instrument cluster to always look as good as new when it is fitted back to your vehicle. We rebuild these clusters for both main dealers and independent specialist so you can always be assured of our very high standard of work.

Removing your instrument cluster:
First remove the black plastic trim from around the cluster - this is in two pieces and can be removed by inserting a small flat blade screw driver under the edge of the trim and flicking it outwards. Then unclip the two multi-plugs on top of the instrument cluster
Then remove the two Torx 20 screws situated either side of the cluster, the cluster will then just pull out from the dash. You can still drive your car with the instrument cluster removed but you will have no way of knowing your vehicle speed or fuel level etc. So take care whilst driving if you do this. A popular misconception is that the immobiliser for the car is stored in the instrument cluster - this is not the case, you will not damage your vehicle if you run it without the instrument cluster installed.

We will also look at rebuilding instrument clusters that have been condemned by other companies as we are starting to see a lot of supposedly unrepairable clusters coming in that have just been repaired or programmed incorrectly. We can also supply replacement clusters that are programmed for your vehicles settings with your mileage and vin number installed, if you require a replacement unit then contact us first.

Posting in your instrument cluster for rebuild:
We recommend you post in your cluster via royal mail Special delivery if you are unable to come to us. We can also arrange collection from you via TNT courier if required.
Delivery will cost around £8.90

All units are usually turned around within 48 hours, we fully bench test all units before we rebuild them so if your unit turns out not to be faulty then we will just charge a small test fee and return it.

We accept all major credit and debit cards

You are not alone see...

and also search on here - Megane cluster / Sceinc Cluster / Megane dash / Secnic dash etc...

It appears that both Scenic & Megane dashbopard PCB assemblies are prone to expensive (£700) faults - a company offer a repair service for sub £200 - my guess is it's caused by poor flow soldering & inspection thechniques and fails over time with vibration etc. People report all manner of strange faults like 400 miles being registered for a 2 mile journey - some suggest the main problems lie in the power supply circuitry on the PCB but it could be anything - some behave erratically and others just die.

Good luck...
