Mend Simpson Silencio 850 Dishwasher Start Appear

Simpson Silencio 850 dishwasher overfills?

I have a Simpson Silencio 850 dishwasher that overfills and will not start washing. The fill cycle does not end and does not appear to be on a timer.

I can't find a water level float. I've identified the thermostat which is wired to the heating element. The only other item wired through the bowl is at the lowest point of the bowl and to get to it requires much more dismantling than just the bowl cover. It's under a plastic cover which in turn is parly under the pump housing.

Is this a water pressure switch? If so, is it easy to replace? The dishwasher was not used for a while, would the pressure switch just need cleaning?

I just had the same problem with my machine. I had a leak at the bottom right hand side of the door. I purchased new seals and fitted them with no change to the leak. When I checked the hose from the water level switch to the small plenum chamber on the side of the sump, it had been chewed by a mouse and had several holes in it. I removed the front cover on the door and tested the water level switch by fitting a short length of hose and blowing gently into it while the dishwasher was on cycle (Carefully, as there are exposed electrical connections). No pressure caused the machine to keep filling and over flow. Moderate pressure switched off the water flow and started the washing cycle. Higher pressure switched on the drain pump. Testing the water level switch determines weather it is the problem or it is else where. I replaced the tube and the machine worked fine. In fact, I ran it without the front cover on (carefully, due to the exposed connections) and noticed that the seals are really just splash seals and are not completely water tight. The water level is crucial during the operation of the machine. Hope this helps somebody with the same problem!!!!!!!

HI Guys

thanks for the information. I found the water port to the hose in the sump was blocked and not letting flow up the tube to the Pressure Switch.

I removed the hose and cleaned all parts and working like a new one

Great help
Thanks

The Silencio 850 pressure switch (float) is located in the door, with a rubber hose running from it to the sump (bowl) under the dishwasher. This hose has 2 blue caps inside it to regulate pressure (so they are meant to be in the hose). The pressure switch is a round black item close to the top of the door, just under the door-lever panel. To take the main (lower) door panel off, open the door and unscrew the screws on the sides, working from bottom of door to the top (so you know when you have undone enough of them to free the panel).
A pressure switch may be available from Electrolux (NZ) for about NZ$30-$40, but you may need to order through a service agent or registered merchant/reseller.
