motor wireing?

help please some months ago i sent my 240volt singer 221k iv come to reinstall it and for the life of me i cant remember how to wire it iv tryed but it runs all the time or not at all. now the peddle may be faulty but first i need to know the right way to conect the wires.
the female socket is marked 1 2 and 3
1 being yellow and 3 being red also is there a way to test the peddle switch i do have a meater but cant seem to be able to test it any help will be great
