How can I check the power cord connections on Nilfisk GM400 vacuum cleaner?

I want to check the connections of the electrical power cord in the Nilfisk GM 400 vacuum cleaner.
I need to remove the covers to access the cord recoil mechanism and push button switch mechanism. How can these parts be accessed.
