Worcester bosch 24i not going ON automatically?

Hello,

I want to share how i fixed my boiler - worcester 24i.

Issue:
the boiler would not go on when water was opened nor CH started either manually or on timer.

However,when the main power was disconnected, the boiler would fire and we could get hot water + CH.

There was some air in the system prior to this which was removed.

However, when the boiler cut off - after DHW was no longer needed, the boiler would not automatically come on again when DHW was needed.

Solution

Changed the PCB ... when I did open where the PCB sits, I could see some parts had gone black - carefully removed the PCB off and wrote down what connector goes where + took pictures in case!

Went to ADLINK in London - its near Alperton Station, close to Hanger lane roundabout (NW London).

Purchased a refurbished PCB at £53 but you have to give your PCB in exchange.

This price is as on 02/09/2009.

Fit the PCB in the same way, and got the boiler working again !

One thing to remember, when the boiler was not firing, the internal fan was working, so my logic though process is that the board would not be passing the message to fire, but all else seemed to work fine in the boiler.
