Mend Renault Megane 16v Auto Dashboard Light

What is the auto light on the dashboard for a Renault Megane 16v Auto for? ?

My Auto light keeps coming on and i lose power. When I turn the key off and then on again it works ok. What is the auto light for?

If anyone can help i would be much appreciated.
