Mend Acoustic Solutions Recorder Light Record

acoustic solutions ds 8688?

i have an acoustic ds 8688 dvd recorder - when it is powered up both the standby light and record light illuminate. unable to switch unit on/off via remote. the unit is not in record timer mode but has a disc inserted.
any assistance please
