Mountfield 1228H engine cuts out?

i am sure you have this one but are you running the engine fast enough if not the resistance caused by engaging the cutter drive will stop it, although i appreciate if the engine is running too fast it does make a very loud grunching noise but dont worry no damage caused

Its a safety interlock switch, more than likely...these things cut in when possible danger lurks ie getting up off the seat, mowing in reverse etc. Its probably the one on the cutter deck operating lever.
