Mend Ford Galaxy Linkage Gearbox

ford galaxy gear linkage?

the socket on the gearbox end of my gear linkage keeps on jumping off the ball on top of the box. you have to buy both cables as a kit to do this repair.any ideas how to tighten the socket or can you just change it alone
