take out the battery first. notice that the metal plate on the back can slide down, use a screwdriver to carefully push that plate down. This will void your warranty though, so dont do it if you can get it fixed by creative. where the usb jack/on off switch is, remove the white plate to reveal two tiny screws. After removing them, push on the metal plate on the back until the entire player comes out of the plastic shell. NOTE: the front plate should still be stuck onto the player. also, be careful because two tiny metal pin things will fall out (they are used to keep the batter cover on). Now that the plastic shell is off, you can take off the back metal sheet by carefully prying off the tabs on the side. This is as far as i have gone in opening up the zen micro since the faceplate is attached by a ribbon which is very close to the player. I dont know how to put the ribbon back if taken off.
