How can I checkout my 2 year old White Night CL847?

My CL847 is completely dead, I have checked the thermal cutout, door switch, program setting switch, half heat switch, and obviously the supply fuse, and the fuse on the PCB. no circuit diagram, so cannot check anything else, would it be the PCB electronics board itself. Hope you can help.
Stan.

I know this is an old thread but the following may help someone else.

My CL47 is also completely dead. However, prodding around the PCB wit a meter I found the primary winding on the transformer is open circuit - and it's a custom unit!

Tracked down the manufacturer (MPW www.mpwpowersupplies.co.uk) - a nice friendly voice goes by the name of Mel is having one made (yep made) for me £25 + postage + VAT.

It's not a big job to change as the PCB is easily accessible and even easier to remove. The transformer is held on by five solder joints.

Will advise if this fixes the problem when it arrives next week.

Have you tested the continuity of the mains lead?

I have had my question on this page since October 2004, does anyone have an answer, I will have to trash the dryer or rip out the guts and make it into a nonelectronic dryer.

ANY HELP FOR THIS?

Thanks Stan.

Hi! Johny,
Yes I have checked the pin in case it was broken off and with a small screwdriver, I have taken out the switch too, and metered it for actuation, it works OK, I have taken every device out I could find and tested it with a meter, even the over heat switch I tested by warming it up on a hot plate to check it flipped over when hot, that was OK too, the only item I am not sure of is the capacitor to start the motor, I am not sure of the readings on the meter when checking it out, also what are the connections for the wires to the capacitor, is it across the mains, ie, yellow motor wire to yellow from cable form , and the same with brown to brown, I also connected the motor straight through, ie; bypassed the capacitor, and spun the motor, but no start, I have strated capacitor start motors this way in the past and they usually start off OK.
Have I missed any swiches or devices that I am not aware of, as I mentioned in my previous e-mail I don't have a schematic diagram so I am not sure if I have missed somthing hidden in a wierd place not visable so I missed it.
I do appreciate the time you have given Johny, I hope you can suggest the next step I should take.

Thanks,

Stanley
