how do i set up a refund department on a xea102 till please?

we cannot get our till to give us a refund department

You can program a negative department to do refunds. Look in the manual under "Department Status". For example, to program a negative, nontaxable department you would enter 1000007, press TM, press the dept key, press the #/SBTL key.
