error code H OO5?

My yamaha dvd-s796 player has started showing error code H 005 on its display , it will not go through the whole dvd and the picture on the tv tends to break up ? although if i play a cd it plays all the way through ?

Sounds likely to be a pick-up (laser) problem. DVD players often have dual pick-up's in one assembly, hence the CD side still works.
Im my experience, error codes starting with 'H' refer to temperature being too high & the number referring to a specific part of the circuit.
