Mend Ariston Margherita 2000 AB95 Washing Machine

Burning smell from Ariston Margherita 2000 AB95?

We have had this washing machine for about five years and for the last three years have been using it daily. Yesterday when I had my daily load on I noticed a burning smell and located it to be behind the washing amchine. Does anyone know what this is? Is it worth reparing or shall we buy a new one?
