What would it cost to fix?

My Ariston 2000 w/dryer Started Wash load (no4) The Machine Drew in some water then stopped. We tried moving the dial but nothing happened. We then cleared out the filter which did have some change in it & checked the drum.
The machine still did not work so checked whether moving the programme dial round would trigger it off but it did not. We have not usued it for a month & then tried it gain. The programme dial went to programme 8 and started to work but once the wash finished, the programme dial just keeps going round. We turned the machine off. we have left it again & it is now not doing anything again.
