how can i fix my renaul scenic 52 gearbox?

a yellow light shaped a lilttle like an oil can with AUTO underneath comes on intermitently on the dash of my renault scenic(52).  Took it to renault who ran computer tests but could not find fault. could it be that gearbox oil needs topping up? feels like the gears are sticking when changing up. only seems to happen when engine is cold and fixing it at the mo by restarting engine. thanks for any answers
