my fridge drips water and ices up at the same time?
what can be the problem with my fridge if the ice box ices up very quickly but the ice that forms on the outside of the box constantly drips all over the food below? I keep defrosting it completely but after a few weeks it builds up and starts dripping again. Could it need a replacement seal or something more? It's a Philips-Whirlpool under-the-counter type.
You answered your own question; ice boxes should be defrosted every few weeks anyway as the build up of ice actually insulates the temperature sensor and causes the ice to melt. Try turning up (colder) your thermostat, and don't leave your fridge door open longer than necessary. This problem can also occur if your fridge does not get enough rear and side ventilation or if it is situated in a high ambient temperature.
