Hello Stuart,
If you mean the plug and you are in the UK it should be, 2 red wires joined together, with the plug apart and as you are looking down the open pins facing left, red wires on bottom pin, 2 black wires on seperate pins, if the machine runs on or if the light goes out when you sew change the black wires over.
