HOW CAN I FIX MY SAMSUNG NAPSTER YH-920? URGENT!!!!?

In 2004 i received a Samsung Napster YH-920 for christmas, its been working fine till the end of last year (2005) i keep receiving this message when i try to turn it on....."The device database needs repair. Please, connect to PC and rebuild database with recovery utility. Device will be turned off.".....Now, i did the obvious and used the recovery utility, but it still doesnt work! I would really love some help, my bus journey's to school have never been the same!

well.. i think its a truely aweful player.. i have it.. and the disk.. and i cant get it to communicate wth my PC (XP) atall.. so i cant add music or repair the firmware... Its a bit aweful.. i just get 'USB device not recognised' and i think its veryy bad.. Samsung were less than helpful and insisted i sent it to them and payed for them to look at it... It is a problem with the software not the player so i told them to shove it and binned the play.. far better off spending my money on something better!

Its a stupid problem they have, when you unplug it from your computer and do not safely eject first... you have to have the CD to fix it.

Hi. regarding can't initialize the HHD it means the hard drive is gone need replacing, i just found out 2day but 20gb ipods take the same hard drive as the Samsung YH 920, and they sell alot of them on ebay. model NO of 20 gb hard drive - Toshiba Mk2004gal
if that dont fix my problem then il just get rid of my whole mp3 player

Were you getting "cant initialise the hdd" error? Did formatting the hdd solve this? How did you reformatt it?

Ok I just acquired a faulty Samsung YH 920 player of my mate which he bought on the 07/02/05 he gave up on it looking like he was going to bin it so I took it of his hands hoping that I can fix it and prove! Him wrong. so a managed to get some life in to the battery with a LG mobile phone charger because the charger for the player is dead, anyway upon start up the player tells me "The device can't initialize the HDD" so I wonder if a new hard will fix the problem since I opened it and found out that you can remove the battery and hard drive quite Easley and reconnect it, my mate told me before it did say database needs repairing, and he fixed it by using the repair format thing on the pc. After that it didn’t last that long and now says the HDD can’t initialize message so I guess that’s why he gave up on it. So maybe it’s just a sign that the hard Disk is on its way out regarding Aimee, Anyway does anyone know where I can get hold of a 20GB hard drive for it. my adrs is jjjohny5@hotmail.com thanks for reading

no worries, if anyone has this problem, refromat or format the device, you'll lose all your music but the napster software on the computer should still have all your tracks on, so then you can simplytransfer them back. I didnt format format the device myself though!....i asked the IT Technicians at school to fix it for me!!!!!!!

I had this problem when I had this mp3 player.. I solved it by using the recovery utility on the start menu under programmes.
Hope this helps as I am having more MP3 problems, so i know what it is like.
