Repaired crack in wooden table with Quikwood epoxy?

I have a large wooden table made out of rubberwood that had a large crack on the top, about a foot long. I filled in the crack with Quikwood wood epoxy, which worked great. However, now I can't seem to stain the crack to match the rest of the table. It just leaves a long white-ish line along the top of the table (not exactly what I was going for). Any suggestions to help eliminate this line?

I've had some success with stain and quikwood, but it takes many coats and it tends to turn out lighter then I would like. Typically what I do is use a much darker stain then I would expect, testing before hand. I've also just painted over it then varnish over top of that.

Due to the non porous consistency of epoxy resin adhesives, I don't think there's any way that stain will stick to it....painting could work but I'm sure this wouldn't be appropriate in your case.
