How can i remove a faint ring on the lid of my laptop?

Yep, unfortunately it will have left a permanent mark but you can buy graphite coloured stickers+effectively cover the mark inconspicuously. Alternatively, since photographic covers are all the rage now, places like DELL who offer fabulous colours+photo printed laptop cover options, if it's not a work-owned machine, you could always personalise it (which is another security advantage idea!) by covering the whole lid surface with a fabulous adhesive photograph. Just as we add gold letters etc. to cars, what about adding a gold motif or initials over the mark? Just a few ideas :-)

Nail Varnish remover is Acetone based - it's a solvent for plastic and will have melted a permanent mark that you will not be able to remove.

Look on the bright side - the laptop is uniquely marked which can only be an aid to security.
