how do i replace bosch wff 1401 rubber door gasket/seal?

hi,

i need to replace the door gasket on my bosch wff 1401. so far, i have managed to remove the front door panel and unhook the 1st spring loaded ring around the front part of the gasket. i can see the 2nd ring that needs to be loosened to remove the gasket, but i can't get into it with my screwdriver because the concrete weight is in the way. do i need to remove the concrete weight to gain access to the screw? if so, how do i go about this?

thanks for any replies received :)

i don't have a long reach screwdriver but i should be able to get hold of one.

thanks for you help :)

I would try tilting the machine back onto it's rear feet. prop it up or have someone hold it for safety.
Look up from below, and if the screwhead is visable from this position - as baldyjoe states, use a long screwdriver to release it.
When replacing the seal tighten the screw from the top of the machine to make access to the screw easier for next time.

thanks for your quick reply!

i have removed the top of the machine as well as the door panel, but i was looking through the door. the screw head is face down so i cannot see it from looking through the top of the machine.
the concrete is positioned upright at the front of the machine, rather than lying face down at the top or bottom of the machine.
how easy is it to remove the concrete? is it only attached with bolts, or is it attached with something else such as spring loaded catches as well?

thank you for your help:)

One thing I forgot to add. Are you looking through the door or through the open top of the machine?
If through the door, this is why your having problems. Remove the lid of the machine and the screwhead will be accessed easier, without the removal of the concrete.I'm guessing your looking through the door as the bolts that hold the concrete in place are quite obvious when the lid removed.

Good luck

If you cannot reach or access the screw head of the retainer, and removing the concrete helps, do it. I would however, replace the concrete before the new seal and retainer wire, so as you can place the retainer screw head in a more accessable position for future repairs.
