ferguson 35 tractor, missing when hot?

Is there a known problem with the ferguson 35 tractor, 4 cylinder petrol motor that causes it to miss when it gets hot. I spent a lot of money on repairs and parts only to have it keep happening. I think i eventually solved the problem by getting a distributor cap thats made in England. The ones made or supplied by Bare co in Australia seem to pack it in after a minimal ammount of work. I would like to know if this is a known fault as i figure bare co owes me a lot of money for repairs if this is the case as they should have recalled them. I am gathering what information i can before contacting them as i brought 3 caps before i found someone that suggested there was a problem with them.Also the cost of other things various people tried to no avail could have been averted if the caps had been recalled.

The answer is the distributor cap. The ones from bare co are faulty and break down when hot. Left to cool for 10 minutes it starts again and runs for another 5 or 10 then stops again. You need to get one made in England written on it, i have not had a problem since putting one of them on it.So Johnny longtoe if you can get a gfenuine distributor cap made in England you will solve the prob. Believe me it took a couple of years and a lot of money to figure it out.

Having look at one last year and spenting some time putting a lot of new parts on it, and almost giving at the end of the day giving up on it, in the end I find it to be the main HT lead, so suggest you had a look at that to...!

hi peter, try changing the condensor, from what you have said the condensor breaks down when hot causing multiple mis-fire
