Rubber clutch replacement for Hamilton Beach blender 14 speed?

I've been searching several forums on how to replace the rubber clutch and there are no answers. We don't want to send it in to Hamilton Beach, because most likely they will charge us much more than it's worth. I wouldn't bother fixing it at all, but it is my wife's blender and she likes it.

It's a model 54250, type B20. Thanks.

I have a HB model 58200 blender. The shaft turns clockwise looking down at the top of the blender. Therefore the clutch plate will screw on counter-clockwise. I started the plate onto the screw, then laid a long screwdriver across the plate from the "open" space at the back of the mixer. I sprayed a little DW-40 on the shaft threads and then pulsed the blender several times. The clutch plate screwed on nicely. I did like Dan and tore off the old clutch plate with pliers which did no damage to the shaft threads.

This video shows exactly how to do it for the 909 model:

what a pain to replace, After screwing with it for an hour I eventually got frustrated and took a pair of pliers and tore the rubber clutch out. It was cheap metal so it does not hurt the shaft. Wish I had done that first. Once that is done just replace the piece.

Do you attempt to make the rubber clutch go counter-clockwise looking at it from above the blender? I.e like I'm unscrewing the rubber clutch from the center bolt?

Holy cow, Mixology's answer worked. My blender's been sitting on the shelf, unused for 9 years, because right after I got it, it started making slamming noises. I finally pulled it down and realized that I have to remove the clutch to get the motor out. I had to hit it a few times, but it worked like a charm.

best way is to take a nife or screw driver, place it on the inside of the clutch, between the rubber and the metal , give the screw driver/knife a quick sharp hit in a anti-clockwise direction, the idear is too turn the clutch quicker than the motor arm, this will undo it. to do it up again just place new clutch over threaded motor arm and place jug with a banana and milk, for a bit of ressistabce and turn it on, this will tighten it up nicely. Hope this is of help

Why not buy another one pre-owned on Ebay? I have the same model that I will be lisiting for $8.99 on 7/18/09 plus shipping. Used maybe two times and has been sitting in my cabinet
