HOW DO I FIX MY TRITON IVORY II SHOWER?

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO REPAIR MY TRITON IVORY II SHOWER? THE FIRST TIME I USED IT AFTER THE MAIN RISER WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN IT MADE WHAT CAN ONLY BE DESCIBED AS A "GROWLING" SOUND THEN SPLUTTERED INTO LIFE. IT WORKED FINE TILL I TRIED TO SWITCH IT OFF IT STOPPED HEATING THE WATER BUT THE WATER KEPT RUNNING?
