My TEAC AG V 8500 Audio system has a problem ?

I plugged my vintage Woolensak T-1500 reel to reel tape recorder 'External Speaker' cable into the left and right audio input jacks of the TEAK AG V8500 'Video 2 Input' area. The cable was a Mono plug into the Woolensak with 2 RCA plugs for the L and R speaker (or in my case) audio jack connections)
I then played the tape on the Woolensak thru my system to my speakers with superb sound. I then tried to record that sound on my System TEAC W 488 R Sterio Double Cassette Deck on a std audio cassette in the 2nd Record/Play station. It would not record. The rec. light glows, the tape moves but the Sound Level Meter lights remain motionless. The Dubbing tape to tape function of the deck still operates normally including the sound level meter lights. Why can't I record from reel to reel, to cassette.
