Loose Handle for UPVC Front Door?

The interior handle is 'loose' so I took it off & found an issue where the 'spindle hole' part of the handle passes through the mounting plate. This is obvious a cheapo job as the end part has just been roughly burred over & a plastic 'circlip' used to stabilise this ‘joint’. This plastic part has now almost given up the ghost resulting in a distinctly wobbly handle – it seems to be a fairly good fit on the spindle; I guess there must be some play there but I’m prepared to accept that for now. Naturally I’m trying to find the cheapest way of not doing the job properly, i.e. buying a replacement handle, so would welcome sensible suggestions. I’ve thought about using a proper metal circlip but the bit of plastic is relatively thick at around 2mm.
