What is the problem with my vauxhall vectra 2.2dti?

Thanks Ged - It is due its service in November, think it was serviced in 2007, but has done about 25-30k since then. I just use the normal diesel, will the expensive stuff help with this?
Its done nearly a 100k miles, so its well worn in!
Yes- it does only happen when I start it in a morning and when I put my foot down. I do 100miles a day usually doing 70mph, so do I need to rev it more to get rid of all the crap that will be getting clogged up in the engine from doing very low revs?

Check the air filter, if it's dirty it'll make the smoke worse.
If the car has done a very high mileage it could be a failing injector, faulty EGR valve or low cylinder compression. When was the car last serviced?
Are you using decent quality diesel?
If it's only happening under hard acceleration it's not likely to be major.
It might just be that you need to drive it hard more often!

that is the turbo.
if you look at most new turbo diesels they all seam to do it.

it is the turbo overboostin and the engine then throws a load of fuel in which is why you get the black smoke
