Central locking not working on 1994 Mercedez Benz C220 Auto?

No response when remote control or switch on dash is activated. What is the name of the device and where is it located that should be activated first when activating by remote or switch. When system works normal, it is expected that all doors, bonnet & boot should be locked when activated with remote or switch. At the moment only the alarm is activated or de-activated when using the remote. I believe that each door is opened by a vacuum pump which is located in each door and the problem cannot be any of these as all the doors cannot be opened by the remote or switch as previously stated.

Hi Techiguy.
Thanks for the info. I found the pump in the boot on the right-side (driver's - SA). No sounds are heard when trying to operate. There are 2 plugs connected for the electrics. On checking with my multimeter the highest voltage recorded is around 5.4v which seems low. The one plug carries 2 wires only and the other a bunch of about +- 8 wires. I will need to source a 2nd hand pump and see if it works or otherwise assume it could be an electrical problem. Incidentally I have checked all the fuses and this seem to be OK. Thanks again for your help.
I will keep you informed. I have found out that the unit is very expensive, R4500 in SA Rands for a new part.

The vacuum pump is under the rear seat on the drivers side. Check the pump by operating the central locking and listen, if the pump is working, you probably have a detached pipe. If you can't hear anything, either the pump is US or you have another related electrical fault.
