fuel filters - motors and tanks?

subject is a "party barge" brand pontoon boat w/ 50 hp mercury (i don't know years of either one - guessing 5 to 12 years old).

#1. is there a fuel filter in an external 20 gallon fuel tank or just a strainer (sorry i don't know the brand)

#2. is there a fuel filter "in" the carb(s) like on old u.s. cars or just in-line filter(s) under the motors powerhead cover
