Mend Aqualisa Aquarian 1997 Shower Cartridge Thermostat

How do I remove the thermo cartridge on my Aqualisa Aquarian thermostat?

I'm trying to access the cartridge on my Aqualisa Aquarian 1997 model. I've got the front shroud off and have removed the two screws fixing it to the body of the shower and also the 1/2 " fitting at the bottom but the cartridge casing won't budge.

Any suggestions??
