pilot light has no gas even when button pressed?

I have a glow worm space saver 50 boiler and the pilot light went out when I tried to relight it there was no gas coming out of the pilot light when I pressed the gas controll button in. I took out the jet in the pilot and made sure it was clear and even tried pressing the gas contol without the jet in place but still no gas came out . can anyone sugest what the problem could be.
