how can i fix my venturer pvs11022?

hi, i cut the big part off my in car power lead and fitted crocodile clips, thinking, because it had a car adapter the unit was 12volt. Well i was shocked when i plugged it onto a 12v battery and it went pop and a little smoke came out from the base at the back of the dvd player. Then when i read the manual it said the unit was 9v is there anythinmg i can do to fix this or anyone i can send it to , to be repaired?
