door locks not working?

hi. i have a 1998 renault scenic magine that the key fob will not open or lock the doors but the engine starts fine - The key fob has a new battery in and flashes ok . i have a key code - i need to lock the car
but it does not drive due to gear box - any help

Very likely to be the central locking receiver unit, in the console where the internal lamps are. New ones from Renault are about £45 but a one from a scrapped vehicle would be fine as the decoder is elsewhere on the car.
