Mend TomTom 700 Tom Freezes Up

TomTom 700 freezes when starting up?

TomTom 700 when you turn it, on it plays the tomtom bongo, then freezes at the next screen which displays the picture of the unit and the model, it then won't turn off unless you use the reset button underneath.
Any ideas before I send it away for repair?
