How can I fix a Singer 400 Series Sewing Machine?

Stan, I've also found a broken top shaft bevel gear on inspecting my failed singer 457. Could you email me a copy of the repair instructions.

The bobin casing will not stay in, how do I put it back in? when I sew it sews real ugly stiches on the bottom of the fabric and the case that holds the bobin came out.
