renault laguna 1996 starting and running problem?

Hi, I've had a similar prob with mine.
I had a suspected prob with the fuel pump, situated under the mat in the boot - just behind back seats. There's a round plastic cap covering it.
The pump part itself is like a black box. Green Flag undid it and sprayed with wd40 to clean away dust etc. Started ok then.
Currently still havbing some probs, but with misfiring etc - understand this to be a coil prob affecting cylinders - not all firing properly. Was told at garage this is common with this car.
