Take classes in basic electronics and seek a job as a bench repair engineer - you will be paid to learn new practical skills. Then possibly mobile engineer with car or car allowance. Technology moves on quite fast - you take a year or two out and you only have the skills to repair the obsolete stuff. Fewer and fewer people know what an oscilloscope is let alone know how to use one properly - good to have a good basic grounding to be adaptable.
Good luck...
