To be honest - the most common cause is the motor or wiring loom, Check the harness at the bottom of the door hindge.
To remove the panel, pop up the window controls, remove the screw behind the door panel, and the fabric part of the door panel will come away seperately - this is enough to get the motor out, It is quite tricky.
