My Garmin Streetpilot c510 keeps trying to load software?

I tried to update the maps onto my husbands garmin on the garmin website. Now the system won't stop trying to upload software and won't switch off unless you reset it. When you switch it back on it keeps doing the same thing. Can anyone help before my husband kills me lol
