My Thomson DT16300 just won't switch on, the remote control works for the TV, but not the recorder. I tried switching off at the wall, and also using the on/off button on the front, but nothing seems to work, I see that others are having the same problem

Thanks YM - what a shower Thomsons are! I recorded loads of programs as I was on a 3 week holiday - I have obviously lost the lot.

Top up tv sent an update to their boxes last week
which froze them all.Try switching power off at wall for 10 secs,then switch back on, press standby on box,wait to see amber light on,press up,down,left then right buttons on front of box then wait 90 secs and retry box with remote.

Hello,
I have the same thing. I just rang Comet and they told me Thomson have done a software upgrade that has gone a bit wrong!
The man from Comet told me to do this:
Unplug the cord out of the back of the box but leave on at plug.
press and hold the standby button, put the cord back in.
as soon as you see the light blip, let go of the standby button then press menu (1st) and then OK (2nd) Very quickly and the green light should start up.
Then you may need to re-tune box.... Will do it tonight (May 5th) and will let you know if it worked or not!
