Mend Kenmore 116 Replace Broken Belt

How can I replace broken belt on kenmore progressive model #116?

Every year since I bought this vacuum cleaner, I have had to send it in to be repaired. It is the same problem each time. Replace broken belt and power cord. Anyone else have the same experience?

Remove the light cover by pushing in on the sides ... you will see that the housing around the light is not part of the main assembly. Follow the directions on the bottom of the light cover. remove the 2 screws, flip over and locate the arrows indicating the pry area. etc etc .... its all right there on the bottom of the light shroud. If your 116 didnt come with a light... then the assembly your looking for is right in front of the slot that the handle is in when upright.
