can any one tell me what the white and silver box(it has metal slots in)is ?

Hi, if the box is below the door on the left hand side then this is the condenser unit, It condenses the steam and turns it into water so the pump can then pump it up to the water container. You must clean this out every 3 - 4 weeks ( run water through it, A garden hose is the best method. )
