Draw doesn't open to complete transaction?

When we ring up the items (on our royal alpha 600/601sc cashregister), add the tax and push the amount tendered key, the drawer doesn't open. It seems to be stuck. Sometimes it will open by sliding the lever underneath, however, that isn't happening now!
