Nissan Micra 1.3 (m) GX Powers issues?

When changing down to 3,2 or 1st gear the power seems to drop the car has stooled a few times because of this. The battery and oil light comes on as if it is back in neutral. The car has only done 40k miles, very good condition. Why?
