trekker 100 seat lock fitting?

Hi,
The seat lock on my trekker 100 is linked between the key/lock and the lock release by a rod. This came loose and i need to refit it. But try as i might i cant see which way it works. The lock turns clockwise(from outer view) but need to create a forward/backward motion at the lock release to operate. I have the rod but need advise how to fit it.
