Mend Indesit IDL 40 Dishwasher Broken

The door won't shut on my Indesit IDL 40. ?

Hi , the door won't shut on my IDL 40 . The catch doesn't seem to work. It sounded as if something dropped down inside the door but I've opened it up and can't see evidence of anything missing or broken . Having said that, i've never seem inside one until now . Any suggestions welcome !
