diesel in unleaded car?

forgot to add replace the fuel filter aswell as there only cheap

Yer give it a try it should be fine.putting diesel in a petrol engine wont do any lasting damage.it just clogs up the injectors,but drain the tank to avoid damage to the cat.also when your done find an open road and keep the car in third gear and the revs fairly high,hold it for 20mins or so.you wont harm the car but your trying to dry the cat out,keeping revs high is the best way to dry the cat.in a week or two take the car to a garage and ask for an emmisions test to make sure cat is ok.if emmisions are high replace oxygen sensor before the cat as they can become clogged.hope this helps.but dont worry its much worse putting petrol in a diesel

so if i syphon the fuel and fill the tank and add red x do you think that will be enough,or is that a pipe dream lol

ok you really need to have the tank drained.expect to pay £200 for this to be done.the worst it will do is clog up the fuel injection system and possibly cause damage to the cat but they are very tough despite what people say.you will need to run a fuel cleaner for a while and all should be ok.you could fill up with unleaded as was suggested and use fuel cleaner,last year i filled up my brand new merc diesel with unleaded and nearly cried.been driving for 20years and never done it before.

You could get it drained of course but if you've driven for 10 miles and it's still running, I'd brim the tank with unleaded petrol and keep my fingers crossed.
Every 40 miles or so brim it again with unleaded. I don't know how your catalytic converter will like it though.
Good job it wasn't the other way round, petrol in a diesel.
