change mains lead on dyson dc04?

I have just taken off the yellow on/off switch and followed the hints above. Excellent, however I found that by simply moving the flexible hose out of the way, you will see a small hole that leads from the hose housing into the on/off switch assembly. Just push a small screwdriver through the hole as that pushes the plastic clip away from the assembly and the on/off switch just lifts off.
Dyson deny there is any problem with the wiring where it goes into the switch, but this was the third time it shorted out. Dyson of course refuse to assist in helping to remove the switch (elf and safety, blah blah) but we know better. In fact, the design is so poor when wires are twisted or pulled (everybody does it for Heaven's sake) there will eventually be a short which could kill someone. They make 35 quid a visit too!.

Just done this 10 mins ago.
You have to remove the yellow on /off switch first. This is actualy a cover to the switch below. I removed mine with x1 of the centre prongs of a fork. Bend the centre prong to 90 degress to the fork handle, and put a tiny kink at the end of that prong. (you should end up with a funny lookink "Z" shape. Bend the remaining x3 prongs totally out of the way. Keeping the yellow switch cover up - use pliers here- push the singular prong down the flat egde of the cover. ie inboard. When you think you have the clip pushed in pull the cover up with the pliers and - hey presto access to the actual sw and wires is revealed. BE CAREFUL WITH THE PLIERS.

Down the side off the on/off button there is a clip that needs pushed in to allow the on/off cover to be removed. Looking from above there is a flat sided part to the switch, using a small screwdriver insert down the side to push in clip. Once you get on/off cover removed you will see a small screw that allows you to remove cable connector that connects external cable to cable that runs down to motor.
