Mend Baumatic Washer Dryer Fault

Is it worth fixing my Baumatic washer dryer?

I have a Baumatic washer dryer which has just gone past the 5 yr parts guarantee - surprise surprise, there's now a fault. There was a burning smell and it now does not switch on so I think it is an electrical problem. An engineer had previously made a repair to the circuitry on the control panel and he said it was awkward to do (a tricky buit of soldering I think). It could be that again but I am considering buying a new machine altogether, any views?
